AmateurPianists is thrilled to announce a masterclass with pianist Karen Davis on July 15th.
A native of the Washington D.C. area, Karen Joy Davis made her debut with the National Symphony at age twelve. After attending high school at Interlochen Arts Academy and North Carolina School of the Arts, she continued her studies at The Juilliard School, during which time she won the National Society of Arts and Letters Competition, the Inter-American Festival, as well as the Bartok and Bach Competitions.
Davis studied with Ylda Novik, Irwin Freundlich, Maria Curcio (London) and Leon Fleisher. She has performed in recitals and with orchestras throughout the U.S., Europe, England, South America, and Australia at such venues as The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Heinz Hall, the World Bank, Lisner Auditorium, the Strathmore Center, the Kravis Center, and Wigmore Hall.
As a soloist, she has appeared with the Fairfax Symphony, the Redlands Symphony, the McLean Symphony, Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI, Orchestra Nationale de Toulouse, Orquestra de Camara Fortaleza, the Beloit-Janesville Symphony and the Sao Paulo Symphony among others.
An avid chamber music player, Davis has also performed at numerous festivals including Friends of the Arts Beethoven, Spoleto, and Aspen Festivals and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena.
She also played and toured with the prominent classical tango group, Quintango, as well as collaborating with producer Jon Tolansky on programs about Chopin and Schumann for WFMT Chicago.
Karen resides in San Diego and has produced the series Salk Science and Music for the Salk Institute.

As part of the application process, we kindly request you to include a recent recording, ideally of the piece you wish to refine during the masterclass. Please note, a nominal fee of $20 will apply for each student selected for participation in the masterclass (the payment is only necessary after you have been selected to participate).
