3 Steps to Play Piano Professionally!

By: A.Rash

Mastering piano can now be easier and more fun even if playing the piano in public was a disaster to you.

Have you ever sat at the piano in front of a crowd and froze up or you didn’t know what to play? You are not alone. You can now learn how to avoid this discomfort situation.

This is a serious problem you must control to prevent a disgrace in public places, if you aim at becoming a professional pianist.

What professional pianist knows is that, he is not the one playing the piano. He is only a conduit through whom the music flows.

He is a talented pianist not because he practices the piano more, but that he knows how to connect to the flow of music better. I wonder why nobody is teaching this to new pianist to make learning the piano easier.

Pianists know that playing a piano is not about keeping so many appointments with a piano teacher or buying so many products; It’s about finding a way to allow the music to flow. The fact is; the music is just out there in abundance as the air you breathe and the water you drink. Your job is to know how to let it pass through you when the inspiration comes.

Learn how to tap into your inspiration and the music will arrive on time. You have to learn how to set in motion a weird but effective sequence of events that would produce the inspiration. If you want to play the piano, you have to see the following 3 simple steps, nobody is teaching them to young aspiring piano students.

1– Psychology;

Leaders in the piano music are not those who just play the music; they are the ones who find out why they play, and then play it. They know how to connect to the reason they play the piano.

This motivates and gives them the power to go ahead. They get in touch with the joy of creating a song that hits. They keep themselves in this state because it keeps every cell in their body dancing with joy.

Now, why would you do that?

These states of love and excitement are contagious, and can draw not only people, but unknown forces to come to support you. If you want to take your audience to love and excitement go there first, and you will take them with you.

2– Physiology;

That is performing the mundane, physical act of walking to the piano, sitting down with the right posture, and starting to move your fingers on the keyboard. Find your way of getting to the music and stick to it. It’s a matter of being aware of the unique way you get to the music.

The music will not disappoint you if you keep the psychology and physiology in a good place. It is fun, and your heart will sing when you think of playing the piano.

3– Communications;

Know the language that communicates the music to the world around you. This is crucial because… Master pianists are not always the ones who have created the main ideas in their music; they are the ones who clearly communicated them to others.

Your real moment of truth, as a pianist, is when you sit at a piano, facing the piano and the crowd in front of you. Suddenly the atmosphere becomes quiet as you fix your eyes on the keys. The whole world looks at you, expecting you to take it to the Promised Land with your piano music.

What are you going to do now?

Do not try to remember the notes in the music but connect to your deeper self to access your inspiration. The inspiration will come to you if you are fully ready for it. Use your music communication skill to improvise. Don’t limit yourself to learning the piano techniques only, but get into the rhythm of music, and master how it works. If you do, you would never humiliate yourself in front of the crowd.

There was a popular and true story of a young pianist (Yoke Wong) who studied in the Royal School of Music in England with a distinction from Associated Board of Directors. She learned how to play the piano from the best piano teachers at the time for 10 years and spent over ‚600 in the process.

This pianist was at a party when her friends asked her to entertain the guest with the piano, but something unexpected happened. In this awful moment, she lost everything she spent years learning in music. This incidence did not only shock her but humiliated her professionally.

According to her, she froze up as a deer trapped in a headlight. She felt as if she was out of breath, and her hands were stiff. All she could do was to star at the keys while the audience was waiting in complete silence.

Everybody in the party, as a result, felt disappointed. This embarrassment led her to dig deep into knowledge and research to help young aspiring pianists from experiencing the freeze-up like this.

She finally discovered a tested and proven method of communicating the music to the audience called “The Definitive Piano Improvisation Course.”

Why is this beneficial to you?

I am bringing up this point because it brings home to you a role of playing piano professionally and a sense of accessing music easily. You have to master these 3 secrets now because chances are that; your piano teacher might not even teach them to you.

Please do share this with friends and allies — all are welcome to take part. I look forward to sharing my insights with you.

Best Regards.
