East Bay Interior Designer, Kristina Wolf Design Teams Up with Free the Girls

East Bay interior designer, Kristina Wolf Design recently part­nered with Free the Girls, a non-profit orga­ni­zation that supports rescued female victims of sex traf­ficking in Africa, as a way to broaden the meaning of community and generosity this New Year.

“The holidays are a perfect time for reflection and grat­itude,” Kristina Wolf said. “We are conscious of the enormous good fortune we have had in 2011, so we would like to give back in 2012.”

Free the Girls provides the oppor­tunity for female victims of sex traf­ficking to mend their lives and start anew. The orga­ni­zation does not simply give cash dona­tions to these women and leave them to sink or swim on their own; rather, it empowers these women by giving them the means and assis­tance they need to establish their own small busi­nesses and subse­quently support them­selves autonomously.

The focal campaign of Free the Girls is the bra drive, which calls for women around the world to donate their used brassieres to supply inventory for the victims’ second-hand clothing busi­nesses. Bras have also been proven by the program to be popular items in the used clothing business, with some women taking home a profit that is five times the minimum wage in their area.

One hundred percent of dona­tions go directly to the job-creation projects of Free the Girls. To support the effort, Kristina Wolf Design will sponsor a bra drive in the upcoming year to further raise awareness in the East Bay area, and to gather both monetary and brassiere dona­tions for the campaign.
